when natasha came to the board meeting, she said tes wasnt inclusive as we didnt involve gay groups in Fest. when i mentioned gmsma and lsm, natasha said they were too mainstream and middle of the road gay. now i look at float and see lsm listed as the only gay group. maybe its a logic i dont understand?

candidate's statements

FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
<cr> 007
My name is 007. You may have read some of my articles for
the TES Weekly over the last five years. You may have met
me while I worked the door at TES meetings as part of the
Operations committee. You may have attended a party I
hosted as part of the Social committee. You might have seen
me volunteering at Leather Pride Night or marching with
The TES Association: Election 2006 The Candidates
the TES contingent at the Heritage of Pride Parade. Perhaps
you were there at TES Fest 2006 when I was working as
Assistant Director of Security. Or perhaps you know me
from the 12 years that I've been active as a Top with the
TES Spanking Group.
My resume of volunteering and community
activism all come from one source: 35 years ago, our
beloved founder Pat Bond created this organization in the
belief that consensual sexuality should be explored in all of
its wonders, regardless of gender, orientation, or fetish. This
is an ideal which we can all appreciate and which we should
all support. It is my sincere hope that I can continue to
uphold the spirit of that ideal as a Board Member.
I believe in this organization, and I believe in its
members. Whether dominant or submissive, we all choose to do
what’s right over what’s easiest, and we all appreciate the value
of hard work and dedication in the pursuit of excellence. I have
confidence that you, as a member of TES, will appreciate effort
and results above personal issues and personality conflicts. I ask
only for your support so that I may continue to strive for the
benefit of the organization on your behalf. Thank you.
<cr>
Guy<cr>
Less than a year has passed since I was elected to the TES
Board of Directors.
What has been accomplished:
The Community Relations Committee that I chair
has become more visible, taking ownership of the
representation of TES at other Leather organizations and
events. Functions like LPN, FSE and the HOP Parade,
formerly thrust upon the Board and the TES Operations
Committee were more autonomous. We’ve developed a
rapport with our physical presence at DSF, MAST,
GMSMA and LSM, keeping our finger on the community’s
pulse. Our community education and outreach have
included talks about seminars at a prominent teaching
hospital and an EMS agency.
The Volunteer Committee, which I also chair, is in
its infancy, formed from the ashes of the Staff Development
Committee. It now has a clear-cut mission and with
enlightened input from experienced Board Members, is
embarking on an ambitious program to relieve burdens on
current perennial volunteers and broaden our skilled
volunteer base. To this end, IT and Prometheus have
already benefitted from some recruitment strategies. I hope
to build on this foundation to secure our future
organizationally. I have made mistakes. I have learned
and continue to do so. I want the opportunity to learn and
grow and build together.
Sir Guy <cr>

Jeff <cr>
Dear Fellow TES Members,
My name is Jeff and I’m currently one of the nine
voting Board Members of TES and am running for
reelection in September 2006.
After attending my first TES meeting in November
1998, I became a TES Member in December 1998 and have
remained a member without any lapses ever since. I’ve been
volunteering at TES since April 2000, have been on TES’s
Board since March 2002, and am currently serving on
Operations, Programs & Education, Prometheus, Site
Search, Social, TES Fest, and Web/IT and am currently
Chair of Programs & Education, Prometheus, Site Search,
and TES Fest.
I’ve served in almost all of TES’s recent events
including the S/M Film Festivals, TES2000, and TES30 …
founded TES Fest and have chaired TES Fest 03, TES Fest
04, and TES Fest 06. I was Chair of the Social Committee
for 3 years, a previous facilitator for the Novice Group, and
am currently a facilitator for the Switchables Group.
I feel I would be able to continue to contribute
strongly and positively to TES as a member of its Board. My
decision making style is one of temperance and restraint. I
feel that the pursuit of well-considered, balanced goals
implemented at a measured, consistent, and deliberate pace
is the prudent method of management.
Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone for
the trust you’ve shown in me in the past and I hope that I
can continue to earn it in the future.
Respectfully,
-Jeff <cr>
Tatsumi <cr>
I have been in this lifestyle for over 15 years. I am a
collared, bisexual, polyamorous switch with an almost
unquenchable hedonistic passion for BDSM. I would like to
serve on the Board of Directors for TES because I strongly
believe in sexual liberation for all adults, especially those
who enjoy consensual BDSM, and I feel I can help further
our groups’ mission as an elected official. From helping to
facilitate educational meetings, working to support our
fabulous social outreach programs and applying my time
and talent to various workshops and committees, I plan to
dedicate myself to TES and its membership in order to bring
out the very best in our community.
Thank you,
Tatsumi
<cr>
Thrash <cr>
Thrash is a NYC area “lifestyle hedonist.” A versatile
submissive living with his Mistress/Wife, Lady Velvet, he is
a veritable cast of characters who is sometimes known as
Antonia the girl, Silk the warhorse and Sparky the fire dog.
His many guises have been photographed by Barbara Nitke
[Kiss of Fire], Efrain Gonzalez, Mariette Pathy-Allen and
published by Katherine Gates [Deviant Desires] … they
may also be seen at TES! A lifelong single-tail thrower, he
is TES’ official Whip Marshal (and a Group Marshal) for
the annual NYC Pride Parade. Thrash has presented his
own unique (some might say twisted!) perspective on a
variety of subjects at various Black Rose and TES Fest
events as well as meetings of TES, TEC @ TES (of which
he is a founding member), and other local groups.
I have over a decade of TES membership and
experience participating in public “scene” activities; in
addition to having founded and co-facilitated a popular SIG,
I have presented successfully on numerous subjects and
most recently worked on the Staff of TES Fest ‘06. In my
time as a TES member I have received so much from it and,
after having volunteered and worked in various capacities, I
believe that I am ready to take on the challenges and
responsibilities of being a TES board member … to work to
help our organization flourish. If you agree then, by all
means, vote for me!
Thank you.
Thrash <cr>
<cr>Wes Baron<cr>
I am running for the TES Board again because I see TES as
my second family and I want to make it feel that way for
others. TES’ image has changed over the last few years and
it has been a change for the better. We are doing better at
education, at socializing and at fraternity then before. I am
running because that is a path I want to keep us on.
I am running again because I am good at what I do
for TES. Since I have been Treasurer for the past 3 years,
more people know how and where we spend our money than
before. That’s a good thing because now we have a lot more
to spend. We also need to be careful and not misspend the
TES Fest money we now have.
I am running again because I still feel I have a lot
to offer to TES. There is more we can do here. We need to
communicate better with our members to let them know
what is going on at TES. We need to look for a better
meeting space where we can hear our presenters and each
other. We need to make volunteers feel welcome and that
their efforts are appreciated. We need to examine our special
interest groups and see that they are meeting our needs.
I look forward to seeing you at candidates’ night. If
you can’t make it then and have a question for me, write me
at wbtes@verizon.net. Thank you for allowing me the honor
to serve.
<cr>Wes

silence

after all the silence was gone and the need for debate was called, it was followed by silence. a wonderment. personal stuff wasnt at issue. It was no longer procedural. Then what was it? it was silence. Board members dont have to vote? they dont have to vote yes or no or abstain or to object? they dont have to be part of the process if they dont want to? They can decide not to be part of the process and not participate because that is democratic? i though that was the opposite of democratic. And then there was silence. they took a stand because things had to be said and then they didnt say them. They apologized because their silence was in-eloquent. They had things that needed to be said publicly for all to hear. And then they were silent.
i dont know who called the huddle, i dont know who called the play, but from the sidelines it looked like the fumble of all times. even bigger then joey P and the giants.

leaning

i have spent the last month trying to decide whether to run for the Board again. Come September, i will be an emeritus, which would give me voice and not vote at Board meetings. this is something like an elder statesperson role. Just sometimes i dont feel elder, more not then often, i am not a statesmen.

There are many times i am frustrated by the board. sometimes all the niceness gets in the way of getting things done. sometimes you have to hurt someone (or their feelings). you would be surprised that it can be so difficult to do this in an s/m organization.

i just feel that there is so much more to do for TES. i love TES and what Pat and Brother Leo and the so many others have done to get us to our 35th birthday. i just think we have so much more to do to keep us going on.

We need to communicate so much better with our members. While this is one of the most open boards we have, if its actions are unheard of, how much good does it do? Our educational programs are really unmatched, but when only members show up, are we helping the community as much as we should? Are we reaching enough people with our programs?
there are many other areas that need work or at least reflection. Prometheus, our venue, the web, the calendar etc.
there are many good people at TES and they deserve our best efforts. after 5 years, can i still give my best? Some people say that after serving for 5 years, a Board member should be forced to take a break for a year. Have i grown stale? Have i become old and cranky while on the board. Am i now just a dirty old man. i have about a month to decide.

From Dan Abrams:
There is a landmark legal battle of constitutional proportions being fought down in Mississippi. It involves fundamental rights protected by the First and Fourteenth Amendments, not to mention the rights of certain small business owners to satisfy their customers. This week, another court refused to recognize Mississippians’ right to find companionship for 29.99 and so a law outlawing the sale of sex toys will stand.
A person commits the offense of distributing unlawful sexual devices when he knowingly sells, advertises, publishes or exhibits to any person any three-dimensional device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs or offers to do so or possesses such devices with the intent to do so.”

Well, I am glad to see that the local legislators are focusing on the most pressing issues of the day. I’ve long believed that a three-dimensional, possibly battery-operated device is far more menacing than a handgun. In Mississippi, people can buy guns at a gun show with no background check and certain weapons can be carried almost anywhere. Sure, guns and toys can bring joy and a sense of comfort to the user, but apparently the legislators concluded that a genital replica is a far greater threat to society.

This, from a state that levies only an 18-cent tax on cigarettes, 55 cents below the national average and where 62 percent of residents are overweight, making it the fattest state in the country. Yet still the public schools don’t make gym class compulsory. Mississippi’s laws would make you believe sex is the single greatest threat to public safety and well-being. After all, it’s illegal in Mississippi to have sex with someone you’re not married to or to live with someone other than your spouse.

Both can result in a $500 fine and six months in jail. And men are not permitted to be aroused in public. But at least good people are protected from the disfigurement that could result from an accidental electrical overload from a defective toy.

Georgia and Texas have passed similar bans and courts have repeatedly ruled the legislators have the power to do it. I guess the Second Amendment doesn’t say anything about the right to bear a stimulation device.

But the sex activists are not closing up shop in the South Pole just yet. They formed a lobbying group based in Florida called the National Alliance of Adult Trade Organizations or NAATO. Not, of course, to be confused with the other NATO, which is based in Brussels.

I don’t mean to pick on Mississippi. I love the state and the people, but I just don’t get why the legislators are fighting so hard for this law. We’re talking about adults here. It’s not that I really care about ensuring that these toys are ready accessible. Really. It’s just that you have to wonder, is one of these toys really a greater threat to the community than what real live people do to each other every day?

i wonder if they can be distributed for free?

Wes (The TES),

Here is the information you requested. I apologize for the inconvenience, it is not posted as it should be on our website as of yet. We will be updating the site shortly.

Free Speech Coalition

P.O. Box 10480, Canoga Park, CA 91309
ph: 818-348-9373
www.freespeechcoalition.com pr@freespeechcoalition.com

2257 Stipulated Agreement Extended Once Again

Denver, Co. – A motion was filed in the U.S. District Court of Colorado this afternoon that extends for one month the original stipulated agreement between the parties for a temporary restraining order (TRO) in Free Speech Coalition et al v. Alberto Gonzales.

The extension will terminate December 30, 2005, or until the Court rules on Plaintiffs' motion for preliminary injunction, whichever occurs first. During that time period, the

Justice Department is restrained from inspecting or enforcing U.S.C. 18 § 2257 against plaintiffs in the case, which includes all members of the Free Speech Coalition.

Terms of the original stipulation are once more maintained intact. The Free Speech Coalition would like to thank its members and the adult community for their support and patience during this time period, and also express appreciation to the FSC attorneys for their efforts, and to the U.S. Justice Department for its cooperation.

Free Speech Coalition is the trade organization of the adult entertainment industry. Its mission is to safeguard the industry from oppressive governmental regulation and to promote good business practices within the industry.

i hated the 70's

was sitting with m watching tv and there was a 70's reference. i hated the 70's. i was in college in the early 70's. super straight, no drugs, no drinking, no smoking (still never smoked grass). i was first treasurer and president of the student govt though...no surprise i guess. one day a group of friends were heading into the city on a friday night. we had done the rocky horror thing before, ate at some nice places in the village, this time it was more of a rowdy trip, they were going to a head shop first. i figured why not. in college my goals were to get laid or blown...where better to do that then at a head shop... wrong. they were all looking at at all kinds of implements, i was looking for the room in which you got head.
was just as bad as the time i ordered a tab in a bar and got the bill for the group i was with....
i hated the 70's and i am still looking for that elusive blow job

voting

Rather then go through my list of five candidates, i do want to write about 1 of my 5 votes. i am voting for Kristen. I think TES needs her. Even though she is the 'quiet' candidate, she does deserve your attention. Being a board member has many facets. there are many good jobs that go along with the role. There are also many hard jobs, dirty and done by a board member because no one else wants them. kristen has shown time and again, her willingness to pitch in for these types of hard to fill jobs when no one else wants them or is available to fill them. Whether it is the last shift of a long night when everyone wants to leave or the need is drive someone clear out of her way, she is always there and does the job smiling and without complaint. I know how many shifts Kristen did at TESFEST. doing way more hours then most volunteers. And yet that was after paying in full and not wanting any refund.
i know that Kristen has been attending Board meetings so she knows what the board is like and how it functions. While quiet, she is thoughtful and has meaningful things to say that are worth listening to. i know Kristen for longer then most of the other TES members. She is a bright, caring, gentle, hard working and independent individual.
This year our Secretary, Mark is stepping down. Kristen is a notary and knows a lot about record keeping requirements. She would be a natural to fulfill this job if elected.
i strongly urge you to give Kristen one of your 5 votes. TES really does need her on the Board.

a bad idea

last night we were supposed to have a stripper demo at tes. it was a meeting i had booked. i had seen an ad for a group that teaches topless wannabes how to pole dance. i figured this was interesting enough for a meeting. rather then pole dancing though we agreed on more of a burlesque stripping how to for your man or women. sounded fine until they canceled. what was just as disheartening as the cancellation was the small crowd that turned out for the meeting. while 5 or 6 people left when they heard the program change, we had less then 15 people all told. we did a panel discussion instead. i tried stripping during the discussion and no one noticed. oh dear. it was an ok meeting but the evening left me disappointed. so much for innovative programming attempts. couldnt draw a crowd for t and a. we also only had 3 candidates in attendance last night. the smallest number of campaigners as well.
This brings me to the swiftly approaching TES elections. there are 8 candidates for 5 positions. i am running for re election. more on this later

another manic monday

but yesterday was sunday. im still trying to get the hang of this points thing. 5 chicken wings, 2 points each, 10 points. carrots, celery, pea pods 0 points each, 0 points. licking cheese cake off susan's belly,... priceless. As TES parties go this one was really good. it was the volunteer party for fest and there was a lot of nice play and fun scenes. there were a lot of vols i didnt see and am sorry they missed a good time. it would have been more fun had the house been packed.

Back to points though. it was bad enough that susan the baker made cheese cake but it had chocolate chips in it. i shared a spoonful of the cake with my love but when i saw susan i pulled her across my lap and spanked her because of the chips. i finally felt i made my point -no chocolate in cheese cake. i think we both had deserved the spanking treat.

More points. a real high point of the evening though was being invited by jd to join him and Sue in their circle of play. It indeed was a special treat for me. Sue is a beautiful sexy redhead that i love to tease. i loaned j my zipper to try out on sue. it was her first zipper experience. now if you dont know, a zipper is a line of clothes pins all fastened on a string. some people think its called a zipper because it sounds like a zipper being pulled on when the pins are pulled off. actually its called a zipper because the pain you feel is the pain like you get when you have your privates caught in your own zipper. it was loads of fun for me at least. i still owe sue a birthday spanking.

Even more points. At the end of the evening, the crowd bonded a bit by singing together. it seems when the Queen of England was younger, she wrote a song at Wimbledon. (no the song isnt about tennis.) They had some guy named Freddie Venus (or Mars or some other planet) sing it. Most of the paddles crowd knew the words. The song was actually good. Who knew the Queen rocked.

Thanks to Pete for getting us too and from Paddles. on the way in, Pete played some Bob Marley and the Whalers. Even though they are whalers, its not sea shantie music and i much suspect the whalers are not Japanese. on the way home, pete played an album called Kiss, by Jean Simmons. it was some mellow pop music and parts sounded beatles like. not bad but not as good as the Queen's music.

There were many other high points with Tee, Sharon on the table, Firefly, Peggy, Mouse, John and Don, Morgan, Staci, August, Catelynn. Jeff and Mark. Dan made me smile with more checks. Phil, Kristen, Luna, Brother Leo, Carol, Robin, HQC, Peggy, George, Annette, Jane, Paul, Steve, Joe, Tony and others.

The evening ended, with me being in my favorite position. sitting next to my sweetie on the couch and watching the Soprano's together.

orange glow

its an almost erie color. a tint of orange. my skin has this strange look. i think its from all the carrots and orange peppers i have been eating and snacking on. these colorful snacks have replaced my regular ones. this was all part of a lifestyle change in what i am eating. if i hunger, i reach for a carrot. Not even a carrot muffin. a hard, crunchy little carrot. i ve taken to holding one between my teeth, letting it dangle a bit, like a Don with a cigar. if only i could dip the carrots in some blu cheese or ceasar dressing. maybe a honey giger sauce? some variety to break up the monotony of the color and taste. I ts like i ve been doing this forever already. has it been only since i started this morning?

note to self, call someone to fix the light above my desk.

on the phone

i handle the calls made to the tes phone line. again today it is a frustrating experience. we get calls and messages. often people will ask questions and not give a return phone number. no way to answer the question. the questions are usually specific enough that we cannot tailor the message we give to include any sense of reply.
sometimes they leave numbers and when we call back, get recorded messages saying that number is invalid or get wrong number messages, even on cell phones.
Then we get questions about being a dating service and are asked how likely will our callers be able to find a play partner at our next event. Or if we can train them or introduce them to a mistress. today someone wanted to know the name of a piece of equipment that they saw in a movie. i would need to be far more visual to follow the description of the apparatus.
we have some regulars call too. one calls every couple of weeks asking when will prometheus be out. despite being told most likely in September, the call keeps coming with the same question. then there is another who just wants to stay on the phone and talk and the questions go beyond a particular schedule point that wasnt understandable on the voice message.

lately, the moaning masturbator has been replaced with the sounds of a toilet flushing in the backgroud. some days i just hate the phone
